Volcano experiment

We are learning the geographical features and we built a volcano in class with vinegar, soda and paprika. This was the result.

Estamos aprendiendo el vocabulario de geografía y construimos uno en clase con vinagre, bicarbonato sódico y pimentón. Éste fue el resultado.

As we are learning the geographical features in English, what's better than doing it in the nature?!

In teams, children had to find six questions in the map, answer them on a piece of paper and relate them to the SDG (sustainable development goal). 

We learnt English, geography, maths, physical education and environmental issues. 

We enjoyed nature and learnt about different topics through English

Como estamos aprendiendo vocabulario de geografía, ¡qué mejor que ir a hacerlo en la naturaleza!

Por equipos, los niños tenían que encontrar las seis preguntas en el mapa, responderlas y relacionarlas con uno o más de los ODS (Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible).

Hemos aprendido inglés, Sociales, matemáticas, Educación Física y temas medioambientales.

Hemos disfrutado de la naturaleza y aprendido diferentes temas mediante el inglés.

CLIMATE CHANGE EXPERIMENT

To understand the climate change, students of 6th made an experiment.

We used four plants. Three of them had a special condition and one was normal. They watered the plant with the same amount of water everyday.

The special conditions were:

1. A lemon

 

2. A glass box

3. A plastic with holes around the plant

4. A normal plant

After this, children had to measure the temperature and relate it to the climate change. Here we can see some information about it.

The first day, the teacher gave the explanation of the experiment.:

CONCLUSIONS

They had to answer to three questions:

1. Normal plant: Nothing especial happened, only that it was a little dry because we did'nt water it at a long weekend in November.

2. Plant with lemon: The children watered the plant with lemon, the lemon is an acid and it was intended to understand the acid rain in our environment

3. The Plant surrounded by a plastic with holes. The plastic was intended to understand the glogal warming and the holes were intended to understand the ozone layer hole, this plan was hotter than the previous two ones.

4. Plant in a glass box: This was intended to understand the global warming and how a minimum change on the temperatures can carry big changes in the lives of plants and trees, this plant was the hottest plant and we could see vapour and how the plant couldn't absorb the water.

ESCAPE CLASSROOM 5º

Hoy hemos hecho una "Escape Classroom" que consistía en buscar unas tarjetas

 y realizar las pruebas que nos indicaban. Las pruebas estaban en inglés, por supuesto. Cuando acababan una prueba, la tenían que escribir en una hoja.

Dos días antes, habíamos hecho un video con Powtoon para explicar las reglas del juego.

Las pruebas eran las mismas para cada equipo, pero empezaban en orden diferente.

Las pruebas eran en inglés pero se han tratado otras áreas como Geografía, Matemáticas o Ciencias. El trabajo cooperativo ha sido el mecanismo a seguir y hemos hecho una estructura (Folio Giratorio)

En la última prueba, los niños tenían que descifrar un jeroglífico en el que decía dónde se encontraba la llave.

Al final, los ganadores obtuvieron un diploma como detalle.

Como nos ha sobrado algo de tiempo, los equipos han hecho una evaluación de la actividad, del equipo y del profesor, algo a lo que ya están acostumbrados en el Proyecto de "Aprendizaje Cooperativo".

Resultó que el equipo que peor trabajó cooperativamente, también fue el que peores resultados tuvo, y esto lo reflexionamos en clase todos juntos.
